Thank you!
On Saturday evening, last week, I had the pleasure of taking part in the South Coast Maker’s Night Market.
It was such a great opportunity and I was so glad to be back in a market setting again. It was quite overwhelming and tiring but after a week reflecting on what was such a momentous occasion in my recovery, I just want to say a huge thank you to anyone that popped along to show their support. Double thank you if made a purchase to support me after 10 long months of being away, I’m extremely grateful for you helping me get back on my feet again after this disaster.
It’s amazing and incredibly surreal that within a year I have gone from being in a bed in Intensive Care with all sorts of tubes and machines helping keep me alive to learning to balance ,walk and talk again and after a really long time in rehabilitation, eventually ending it all in a market being surrounded by such love and support, doing what I love.
Words are not enough 🙏🏻
A special thank you to Alex and Holly helping with transport and set up. I’m so happy to have found you both as friends since I started this project.
Thank you to the staff and patients during my stay at hospital and the residential rehabilitation for coming along. It was so good to see you all and really gave me perspective on how many friends I have made on this journey.
Thank you to Tegan for being an extremely supportive sister! (I can’t say the most or Jess would get mad 😂)
Thank you to my partner, Emanuel for being by my side every step of the way (literally from day one), for dealing with my nervousness (I know you know that it is because I care so much about what I do 😅) . More specifically, thank you for all your help with the market on the day.
I love you ❤️
Lastly, thank you so much to Jo and the team at @southcoastmakermarket. It was so wonderful to be allowed back to further my rehabilitation and take this as an opportunity to grow further! 🙏🏻
I’m sharing some pictures as a source of encouragement for people to do their best during their recovery and rehabilitation. When I was in hospital, I didn’t have anyone to look up to and though I still have an incredibly long way to go, I’m finally hopeful that things will get better in the future.
I have learned from this that whatever your challenges in life, it’s important to face them head on with the right attitude and a sense of humour can help too.
The Japanese spirit of 頑張る (perserverance) and 前向き (not looking back) have been instrumental and I think that we can all benefit from adopting the Japanese spirit into our lives. I look forward to sharing more about the place I love so dearly.
My participation in the markets will be limited while I embark on this journey of recovery but I am excited about the future of my business once more and I look forward to sharing that journey with you.
